At Your Service
When I was young I always wanted to work in a hotel. As I walk at the lobby of all the hotels I visited, I imagine myself standing at the Front Desk and talking with a foreigner confidently. Now, I’m here standing and making the dream come true. It was not as easy as I thought but no matter how heavy the pressure is, I still manage to smile because I love what I’m doing.
I’m one of the faces that will give you the warm welcome as you arrived. Every day is different from another. It’s not always a good day for us but we managed to set our emotions aside. Even if we have personal matters that we are battling with, as we stepped out at the reception desk and start our work—there’s no room for the life outside.
Checking-in and checking-out guest is just part of our daily routines. It’s how the business works as they say. You will find people from all walks of life, and various backgrounds and life histories. People come and go but there will be really some who will leave some footprints in your heart.
I gained my friends from here. Aside from the people I worked with, I also have few guests whom I can never forget. Not just because they have been giving me big amount of tips or whatever material things they bought for me, but because I know I did my job well in terms of giving them their needs. I never imagined I would be friends with the Presidents and CEOs of big companies whom I can have funny conversations with every time they will hang out at the desk. I never imagined too how big the world is to conquer as I deal with different nationalities everyday. Funny love proposals are also present but of course they will just have to know that we are not allowed to go out with any of them.
Today is my last day at the reception. I will surely miss the fun being with my friends I worked with and grew with me as well as time goes by. I know my heart will always belong here but the job calls for me to move into a different field—sales. I maybe still riding the same boat as they say but I know things will be different from me. I am signing off now as Front Office Agent but nevertheless, I am still at your service!
